5 Tips for Planning a Wedding During a Pandemic

2020 has brought many unexpected and unprecedented events. Couples who planned to marry in 2020 have had to face many challenges!  We have heard from couples who have postponed, changed location, or cancelled their big day. Our hearts go out to each and every one of you!

If you are a couple that had your dream day postponed as a result of the pandemic, or if you were always interested in a Pop-Up Wedding, we have some tips for you to navigate planning a wedding during this tricky time! We have compiled a list of our top 5 tips to plan a wedding during a pandemic.

1. Stay up to date on restrictions

This can be challenging as restrictions change quickly, and often, however it is important to know regulations regarding guest count, venue limitations, and vendor restrictions. These factors may help you decide whether to postpone your wedding, or push forward. Some couples can’t imagine cutting their guest list, and some don’t mind. Masked guests might bother some couples, and not others. Knowing the rules and regulations is crucial in helping you make a decision in such an uncertain time.

2. Focus on what matters

When planning a wedding, it’s easy to get stressed about budget, the pressure for every detail to be “Instagram worthy” or anything other than the reason this day is so important… the marrying part! Your wedding is the time to celebrate your commitment to your partner, and when planning a larger affair this can get lost in the shuffle. Allow a more intimate wedding to refocus your vision on your love and commitment to your partner.

3. Consider alternative options

Willing to cut your guest list, but want your nearest and dearest to still witness your “I do’s”? Consider a Pop-Up Wedding with a live stream of your nuptials! You could also think about adding videography services for your wedding, and show the highlight video at a future celebration with additional guests!

4. Be gentle with yourself

This is a tough time for many people, for many reasons. While this situation is difficult, know that nothing can take away the love you share as a couple. Be willing to be flexible in this unprecedented time, but don’t give up your dream. If current restrictions damper your dream day, it’s okay to postpone. If you can’t imagine waiting, that’s fine too. Find support in your partner, bridal party, family, friends and vendors. Know that whatever you choose is the right choice for you!

5. Recognize your priorities

As some of your original wedding plans may not currently be an option, this is a good time to rethink the things that matter to you as a couple. If your dream venue is non negotiable, speak with them about your options. If you’re flexible on location, but not a certain vendor, start there. Rework your plans with your priorities in mind, to ensure that the most important things to you, will be available.

We wish you all health and happiness as you continue to navigate life, and wedding planning during a pandemic. Feel free to reach out if we can assist you in any way!
